Exactly What Did Government Accomplish?

It seems the government waited until the eleventh hour before passing a budget and making themselves look good to their constituents. Bravo! Unfortunately for the American people you didn’t accomplish anything a first year account student couldn’t have completed, with time to spare. All the time they spent dickering over the cuts amounted to less than 1% of the total budget was like me deciding to buy gum for my grandson instead of a light bulb for my refrigerator. Why are they so proud of what they have done when it took this long to do it. And don’t forget they were not going to be able to pay our military personnel that they have sent to put their lives on the line to serve their country, but they were going to collect their salary because they have to pay their bills.

Our elected officials have become warped in their abilities to make decisions in the best interest of our country. How about making it illegal for politicians to take “junkets” provided by big business. How about making it illegal for elected officials get paid for making speeches while in office and make them spend more time doing the job we elected them to do. How about deducting wages for every missed vote or only allowing two weeks of vacation and government holidays as reasons for missing work. And, what about trimming their office staffs, government cars, drivers, housekeepers, maintenance workers, etc.. I know, let’s make them pay for their gas!

Let’s stop sending billions to other countries for their civil unrest and start feeding the people of this country that are starving and homeless. Start making sure our children get the medical attention they need and deserve, the quality education that is their right, the promise that this is truly the greatest country in the world and not just a campaign slogan and political rhetoric.

To sum it up, how about taking care of this country first and making it a priority as was the intention when this country was first founded.
