Another Revolution

It's been two years since the last one and since we are a nation of instant gratification, we wait no longer.

In 2008 we elected a new President, a new congress and a new hope that elected officials would pull our country from a recession and period of greed that came about over many years. However, our patience is about as thick as a french crepe, thinning to the edges of wanting it now, before the order has ever been placed. It should be served within minutes and it better be perfect.

Our lives, however messed up, is never our fault but is laid solely on the shoulders of others that we look to for leadership and the direction to never lead us astray. We placed the servents above all others and if they don't see us through the tough times in a period that suits us, they should be fired or replaced. It wasn't our fault they couldn't live up to our expectations and desires. It's not our fault we don't want higher taxes for the poor and moderate income soldiers of our nation. It's not our fault the tax breaks are for the wealthy and those that can afford to pay more, because those are the people we elected.

A person of moderate means, humble beginnings and current medium income lifestyle cannot run for office in this great country of ours, because the rich won't support them and the middle americans just aren't clever enough to stage a rally in government that this nation needs. We will continue to give the politicians the reins they need to drive us farther and farther in debt, pull us deeper and deeper into the hatred of the rest of the world because we know so much more. We will continue to elect those that "speak" for their constituents no matter how mute we sound to them or how deaf they are.

When was the last time a bill was passed that didn't have earmarks for the relative districts or special interest groups that support the author(s) of that legislation? When was the last time a bill was passed that actually helped those intended without feeding the pockets of the politicians? How can we sit back and continue to support career politicans who get free medical coverage, tax loopholes, paid vacations, big houses and retirement packages that we the people pay for, yet chastise big business bonuses, bailouts, financial institutions, small businesses and one of the poorest educational systems in the world and still sleep at night.

But I digress. If it takes tens of years of waste, overspending, ignorance in office, partisanship, and selfish policy making for this country to stand up and take note, why haven't we done it years ago? Why after only two years of the current administration are we jumping ship? It seems to me if they can't fix it, maybe we need to look deeper into who broke it.

Maybe it's time to put politicians on the same 90 day plan new hires get in the ordinary world. They have 90 days from the time they take office to fix all the troubles in this country, just like when you or I get hired at a new job, if they don't live up to expectations, they're fired or they can leave, NO QUESTIONS ASKED! Maybe congress needs to run like business. Fire the dead weight, cut payroll, chop benefits and stop making excuses.

No, better yet, let's just elect the same old politicians who know what's good for us better than we do.
